The Decatur Arts Alliance is calling for artist submissions for Phase VII of the Decatur Artway, Decatur’s outdoor sculpture gallery. Five sculptures will be selected to be placed on display the city of Decatur on temporary loan for two years, adding to a dynamic rotating collection of public art around town.
The sculpture must be available for the duration of the two-year contract. All submissions must be professionally constructed of durable materials which will withstand the elements. No maquettes or renderings will be considered for selection. The Decatur Arts Alliance will only accept works that are existing and ready to install. All durable outdoor media are encouraged. Work installation dates will be mid to late October but are subject to change due to pandemic restrictions and artist limitations. The lease will extend from October 2021 – October 2023.
Selected artists will receive an honorarium of $2,000. The installed work may be available for sale. Artwork sold as a result of the Decatur Artway VII will be subject to a 20% commission, which will be deducted from the purchase price and retained by the Decatur Arts Alliance.
The Decatur Arts Alliance will, in partnership with the Decatur Visitors Center and the Downtown Development Authority, market Decatur Artway VII including, but not limited to, printed walking/cycling/driving sculpture tours, , a mobile-friendly online tour, and interactive community programming.
