After COVID put the 2022 Fine Arts Exhibition on hold, the Decatur Arts Alliance is excited to announce the return of this highly popular event for 2023—with a couple of Small Changes. First is a change of location: the DeKalb Public Library in the center of downtown Decatur has beautifully renovated the fourth floor into a spacious gallery. This prime location and extended hours will improve accessibility to the Fine Arts Exhibition. Second is the time of year: the Decatur Arts Festival will be presented a month earlier than in the past—the beginning of May instead of Memorial Day weekend. We believe these Small Changes will enhance visitors’ experience of the Fine Arts Exhibition.
You are invited to enter artwork that is no larger than 24 inches in any direction (including framing) in celebration of these Small Changes. The Decatur Arts Alliance invites artists working in all media to participate in the 34th Annual Decatur Fine Arts Exhibition, a juried multimedia presentation that contributes a fresh and unique perspective in conjunction with the Decatur Arts Festival. The exhibition will be installed in the Fourth Floor Gallery of the Decatur Library, DeKalb County Public Library. Entries are open on CaFÉ February 13 through March 24, 2023. The show will run from May 4 through June 16, 2023, in Decatur, GA. A closing reception will be held on June 16, 2023.
Please review the specific application requirements provided in the event listing on callforentry.org. If you have not registered previously with CaFÉ, setting up your portfolio is free. A jury fee of $30 is required to apply to this call. Participants may submit up to three entries for one fee; please review detailed instructions in the CaFÉ event listing. Invitations to participate in the Fine Arts Exhibition will be issued by April 16, 2023. Communication with artists will occur exclusively through their CaFÉ account; no calls or emails will notify artists of the jury selections.
Prizes for Best of Show, Second and Third Place will be awarded by a jury during the exhibition. Cash prize for Best of Show is $1,000, Second Place is $700, Third Place is $500. Purchase awards totaling $2,500 will be selected by the City of Decatur.
