#LookUpDecatur

This series of mini paintings installed high overhead on street poles encourages the community to look up from screens, engage with the world, and find art in unexpected places. This is an ongoing public art project, so we encourage artists to keep an eye out for the next call for submissions!

Find the locations and artist information for these unique installations on the map below and explore Downtown Decatur to see the artwork.

About the Artists

With no thematic requirements and very few limitations, local artists receive a blank sign and free reign to create a mini-masterpiece for display in the Decatur community.  Explore the map above to find artist information for the current round of #LookUpDecatur signs.

Decatur-based artist, Larry Holland (Fishbone Art), is the creative mastermind behind several community art projects including Secret Doors Decatur, Octopi Decatur, the Decatur Box Project, #gawrites, Animal Xings, Silly Walks, and more.  More about Larry: fishboneartdecatur.com, @fisbn / Instagram

Past Installations

Did you find an artwork you love while out exploring?  After a new round of #LookUpDecatur signs are installed, Decatur Arts Alliance hosts an exhibition of decommissioned works in its gallery space.  The community is invited to revisit the artworks – and encouraged to purchase their favorite piece to bring home!
