2026 Decatur Arts Festival Postponed

After 35 years of bringing art, music, and community to downtown Decatur each May, the Decatur Arts Festival will take a creative pause in 2026. With the major downtown renovations currently underway on the city square, the Decatur Arts Alliance is using this moment to reflect, refresh, and thoughtfully plan for the next chapter of this beloved event.

Taking this year off allows us to collaborate closely with artists, partners, and the community to explore new ideas and new ways of presenting art — including how to best use the transformed downtown spaces once construction is complete. By waiting until the renovations are fully finished, we ensure that the Artist Market can return at the level of quality, professionalism, and visibility participating artists and attendees deserve.

With the new physical features that include a large performance stage, oversized screen, expanded plaza, and additional public restrooms, we can bring innovative dance, theater arts, music, film, installations, and more to round out our programming in ways we never could before. We aim to cultivate a bold new vision for the festival, raising the city’s profile within the regional arts community and bringing new audiences to experience the arts in Decatur.

Please contact us if you have questions or have suggestions on how to improve the event in 2027. Also, if you are interested in the square renovation, please see the City of Decatur’s website https://visitdecaturga.com/squareshakeup/
