Forked Tongues, Thumbprints and Floral Abstractions

See this exhibition of works by artist Matthew Blodgett. Artist Reception Friday, Jan. 17, 6 to 8 pm.

On view: Jan. 17 through Feb. 10 at the Decatur Visitors Center, Tuesday-Saturday 10 am–4 pm

The Visitors Center is at 113 Clairemont Ave., Decatur 30030

From the artist: “This body of work is really three: in the ‘Forked Tongues’ series I question the convention of a ‘still life,’ as there is truly no such thing, and in fact, each different view of the object expresses different inherent emotions and energies. In the ‘Thumbprint’ paintings I am creating works literally imprinted with my own body and energy. And in the small enamel works, which are all floral abstractions, I have tried to create a fluid and poetic commentary on both. I try to paint that which cannot be seen and hope you feel that in viewing these works.”
