Explore and enhance your watercolor skills with this 6-week course!

Watercolor with Sylvia Cross

6 classes: Jan. 21 – Feb. 25

Tuesdays, 7-8:30pm

Unlock your creativity with this Watercolor and Rendering class, where you’ll explore the exciting world of watercolor painting while developing your unique artistic style! Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, this class is perfect for anyone ready to experiment with color, texture, and technique.  This class is all about having fun while learning new techniques, and it’s designed to help you grow as an artist at your own pace. Led by local artist and owner of Sycamore Place Gallery, Sylvia Cross, who has been a fixture in the Atlanta arts scene for 25 years (except for a brief departure to live in a treehouse in Costa Rica, and in Verona, Italy.) Topics of instructions include:

  • Color mixing, mark making, and learning to draw with a paintbrush
  • Values and scale, placement on the page
  • Glazing techniques and painting to music.

 

Required Materials (not included in tuition):

  • Windsor & Newton Watercolors:
    • Pthalo blue
    • Cadmium yellow
    • Crimson red
    • Ivory black
    • Titanium white
  • White plate or palette
  • Brushes:
    • Flat brush
    • Round brush
    • .01 detail brush
    • Sponge brush
  • 11×14 watercolor pad
  • Sketchbook
  • Watercolor pencils
  • Handheld sharpener
  • Glass jar
  • Paper towels

A material kit may be purchased for an additional cost.
