Join the Decatur Arts Alliance on Friday, January 23rd from 6:30-9pm to celebrate the life and artistry of Gail Vogels. The opening reception for her retrospective exhibition will occur alongside the first Open Studios event of 2026. The exhibition is coordinated by Gail’s husband, David Ray, and longtime friend and curator, Mario Petrirena. Gail Vogels was a celebrated member of the Decatur artistic community until her passing in 2025. This posthumous exhibition celebrates her life and work and invites the viewer to find beauty and meaning in the “magic of the everyday”.
As the second of four open studio events for the 2025-2026 lease term, the evening will also allow the eight studio artists of the Hyatt Cottage in Legacy Park to invite the public into their work spaces, permitting guests to learn more about their processes and visions. Enjoy light refreshments while you build community with the next generation of incredible creatives. We hope you’ll join us.
