Artist Statement

My FLIGHT series imagery—birds and winged creatures that overcome gravity through flight—often appears in my art and installations. It stands for overcoming the forces in life that weigh us down and offers an uplifting message of transcending adversity. My work is cross-disciplinary and often incorporates new media elements combined with paint and traditional fine art techniques. My experiments with creating round work in 2006 led to originating my large-scale “constellation” wall installation style in 2010.

FLIGHT artwork was purchased for Fulton County Public Art Program’s permanent collection and has been exhibited throughout Atlanta including: “Be The Change,” a 2021 installation on the Square in Decatur and “Spread Your Wings,” 2022, that was selected for Dunwoody’s Green Light Art project.

Overcoming is one of my themes. In these times of social justice struggles and COVID-19, the FLIGHT series offers a message of hope and inspiration to viewers. www.studiolejeune.com
