I have always been fascinated with postage stamps—the colors and patterns and lore. Last year I realized that postage stamps are tiny found papers that could be incorporated into my representational collages. I purchased a pound of cancelled international stamps, sorted them by color, and spent 5 months gluing them onto sheets of acid free paper. But what good are stamps without envelopes? I saved envelopes from junk mail, bills, greeting cards, etc., to use with my stamps. The result is my “stamps & envelopes” collage series, beginning with architectural renderings.
