In this body of oil paintings, artist Shannon Willow created “Talking Trees” to remind viewers to stand rooted in the practice of self-care and authenticity. These works offer positive energy, words of strength, and encouragement to love and care for oneself first, so that one may love others more deeply. “Talking Trees” gives tongue to prayers or mantras to override negative self-talk. This prayer painting approach encourages intimacy and self-reflection for the viewer. Water, trees and and creatures represent our interconnectedness to all living things. The paintings prompt the viewer to reconnect with the self and the natural world.
