Offering a diverse range of classes for all ages and skill levels, The Creative Studios at Legacy Park gives the Decatur community opportunities to learn and teach throughout the year. Browse upcoming classes below and check back often! We’re always adding new classes.

Applications Open: YEA! (Young Emerging Artists)

The Solarium 319 West Hill Street, Decatur, GA, United States

A unique opportunity for students in grades K-12 to coordinate their own youth arts festival, YEA! allows young artists to gain practical experience in event organization, marketing, presentation, and sales. Student artists present their handcrafted goods in an artist market while young performers showcase their talent on a performance stage. Decatur Arts Alliance provides the venue, tables, and event necessities; the student artists coordinate the rest!

Applications Open: Artist Studios

Hyatt Cottage at Legacy Park 500 S. Columbia Dr., Decatur, GA, United States

Visual artists are invited to apply for a one year lease of a private, air-conditioned studio space in the Hyatt Cottage (the first of four buildings to come online as part of the "Creative Village" in Legacy Park).  Seven studios of various sizes are available, with shared community space that can be used for galleries, classes, and/or performances.  Studio artists are required to participate in quarterly open studio nights/days, as scheduled by the Decatur Arts Alliance.

There is no fee to apply but a security deposit is required upon lease signing.  Find full details about the artist work studios and the lease application, as well as more information about the Creative Village project on the studio rentals page.

#LookUpDecatur Decommissioned Signs Exhibition

Hyatt Cottage at Legacy Park 500 S. Columbia Dr., Decatur, GA, United States

A new round of #LookUpDecatur signs have been installed on lamp posts and street signs around Downtown Decatur, which means the decommissioned artworks will be on view for a final send-off. The FIRST exhibition to showcase in the newly renovated Hyatt Cottage, one of four buildings comprising the Creative Village in Legacy Park, this is your chance to take home unique artworks crafted by local artists - and an exciting opportunity to see the new space for creative development.  #LookUpDecatur is coordinated by Larry Holland of Fishbone Art and funded by the Decatur Arts Alliance.

Event Series The Book As Art

The Book As Art v.12: Rock, Paper, Scissors

Fourth Floor Gallery of the Decatur Library 215 Sycamore Street, Decatur, United States

The Book As Art v.12: Rock, Paper, Scissors is the twelfth edition of an art show celebrating books: objects that, in an increasingly digital world, stubbornly survive. With nearly 60 artworks on display from across the country, this exhibition interprets the concept of the book and invites the viewer to look beyond the printed page to where ideas, words, and symbols are transformed and are transfigured. Artists are challenged to look inward and outward, to interpret and embrace the childlike fun of this seemingly simple, classic game that blends history, nature, and mathematics with a bit of luck.
