Artists who observe and interpret the idea of the book are invited to submit entries to the Decatur Arts Alliance’s juried exhibition visually celebrating the book form.

The Book as Art: Illuminated will emphasize the book as an art form that can be a delight to the eye, a pleasure to the hand, and made tangible in forms that introduce us not only to new interpretations of an ancient concept but also to questions and ideas on 21st-century form and format.

The fifth edition of The Book as Art exhibition, will be held Aug. 11-Sept. 29 at the Decatur branch of the DeKalb County Library, in conjunction with the AJC Decatur Book Festival, the largest independent book festival in the country. It is expected to draw 85,000 book-lovers to downtown Decatur over Labor Day weekend (Sept. 2-3), demonstrating that books are cherished by multitudes in tangible and touchable form even as they morph into new forms and formats. For more information on the event, visit bookasart.com

Entries for The Book as Art must be submitted digitally through www.callforentry.org (CaFÉ) April 15-June 2, 2017. We are interested in showcasing beautifully made volumes, sculptural and conceptual interpretations, and one-of-a-kind approaches to the book format. We also encourage artists to submit wall-hung interpretations.
