More About Larry Holland

A native of Arlington, Mass., Larry has been living and breathing in Atlanta since 1992 and now calls Decatur home. He has created art for as long as he can remember and has studied and practiced many forms – drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, blacksmithing and working with steel as well as wood. Mixed media has always been close to his heart because it incorporates different aspects of each medium.

Art took a back seat for a while as Larry grew his business and family, but after discovering Free Art Friday in Atlanta the creative juices started flowing again. Drawn in, he has helped the movement gain momentum here as well as expanding his knowledge and techniques. He has worked on collaborations with other artists and gathered them together for shows, events and sharing art around the globe. He gets a lot of joy from sharing art in these non-traditional ways as well as leading people on hunts to parts of the city they may not have seen before. His hope is that it makes people pay attention to the small details of the city that are so often easily missed.

Working with Gathering Wild dance troupe doing lighting, photography and design, the collaborative process has brought a live aspect to Larry’s work and changed the way he sees the viewer interacting with his pieces, and sharing art with the community as a whole.
